Spreading the spirit of volunteerism:
Communities and countries are strengthened by the voluntary work of its members for the benefit of the greater good. Our volunteers give their time, money, and enthusiasm by spending their summer living in a rural village where their skills can be used for the benefit of their hosts. Host community members not only offer space for the classes that take place, but they also create an open environment where volunteers feel welcome. These community members have the opportunity to give their time and energy to improve their community. Host families and their children learn the joy of teaching someone about their ways of life and welcoming them into their hearts. As each party gives what they can to benefit one another, a spirit of cooperation and mutual benefit is established and spreads to the rest of the community

Providing substantive and rewarding work experience for young people:
Face India is full time staff is comprised of college students or recent college graduates. Unfortunately, the work experience of many young people is limited to performing menial tasks in a large office, or, at worst, making coffee and copies. At Face India we offer young people the chance to take on significant responsibilities and have a positive impact on the lives of people around the world. Few organizations would entrust a 19 year old college students with the responsibility of administering the operations of an international non-profit, but we do just that - and with great results! |

Furthermore, working for Face India gives each employee the chance to have an impact on the organization and leave it in better shape than when he or she first started. We are not a static or entrenched organization, and each employee has the opportunity to improve Face India in his or her own way. We seek to provide an arena for idealistic young people to take on the responsibilities that we know they are capable of performing, and we give them the respect they deserve for their hard work and commitment. |
